Who would have thought that a trade made on July 5, 1987 would still be paying off for the San Diego Padres – but it has and it pays off daily for San Diego.  Acquired in a 7 player deal that saw Kevin Mitchell, Dave Dravecky, and Craig Lefferts head to San Francisco with the Padres landing Chris Brown, Keith Comstock, and Mark Davis, Mark Grant stands at the last part of that deal made so many years ago by Trader Jack.  Mark spent parts of 4 seasons with San Diego and had his best years as a player wearing the Friar colors, with his 1989 season being his best season when he had a record of 8-2 with a 3.33 ERA.

After Mark hung up the spikes in 1996, he picked up the microphone and brought his expertise and passion for the game of baseball to millions of Padres fans.  His love of the Padres and his ability to mix in pop culture is second to none and his “Shillelagh power” makes him one of a kind.
