On our recent trip to Bakersfield, we had the opportunity to interview recently acquired 1B Josh Naylor.  After the interview, we walked to an area at Sam Lynn Stadium that had some shade so we could sit down and cool off.  A family walked over, noticing Rebecca and I wearing our Double Dare Storm jerseys, and sat down with us.  We mentioned that we had driven up from San Diego to watch the Storm play and that we had just interviewed Josh Naylor for our Padres360.com blog.  The wife of the couple told us, “you should interview our son, he would be a great interview.”  We asked who her son was and she said, “Ty France”, who happened to be one of the players we had hoped to talk with, but we hadn’t seen him.  We chatted for a few more minutes with the France family before we settled into our seats for the game.

Later on during the game, we took this picture of the France family, and told them we looked forward to talking to their son.

Ty France was born in Downey, CA, and has lived in Southern California all of his life. He was recruited by San Diego State and had the opportunity to play for Tony Gwynn during the last 2 years that Mr. Padre was coaching.  We were very impressed with Ty and were told by people with the Storm that, “Ty is a great guy and is fantastic in the clubhouse.”  He has a positive attitude, and a rock solid handshake. France has a solid bat with The Storm with a batting average of .313, on base .381, slugging .381, and 37 RBI.

We hope you’ll enjoy our interview with Lake Elsinore Storm 3B Ty France.
