It was another beautiful night at The Diamond that was made even better when we had the opportunity to interview the Storm’s Manager, Edwin Rodriguez.

Edwin Rodriguez began his career in the Yankees organization, but was traded to the San Diego Padres in 1983 where he got to see first hand the Padres club that would go on to play in the 1984 World Series. He remembers Jack McKeon as the GM and has fond memories of playing with Alan Wiggins, Steve Garvey, Garry Templeton, Graig Nettles, and Tony Gwynn

After his playing career was over, he became a scout with the Twins before he finally became a manager in the Devil Rays system.  Edwin moved over to the Florida Marlins and in 2010 became the manager of the Florida Marlins after Fredi Gonzalez was fired.  He remained the manager of the Marlins until June 19, 2011 when he resigned the position.

Most recently, Edwin was the Manager of Team Puerto Rico in the WBC and lead his team to the Finals, where they finished second to Team USA.  Edwin was offered an opportunity to manage the Lake Elsinore Storm for the 2017 season and is enjoying it immensely.

We found Edwin to be knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about teaching the game of baseball and a pleasure to meet.  We hope you enjoy our interview with Manager, Edwin Rodriguez.
